We now have 3 options for Preschool and all are terrific for setting your child up for the next level! We offer 2-day, and 3-Day options! Our primary focus in Preschool is on the social/emotional development in kids in preparation for Pre-K. Our main goals are encouraging kids begin to use their words to express themselves, learn how to function appropriately in a group, creatively negotiate and problem-solve with their peers and to be so excited they want to get to class as fast as they can!

We also added *New 3 and 4 hour options! Some of our primary goals in preparing kids for kindergarten our to help them find success in group-oriented learning; both large group and small group, transitioning smoothly from one activity to the next, interacting successfully with peers and experiencing joy in each day! Our curriculum is designed to stimulate your child’s imagination and stimulate the desire to learn by exploring through hands-on literacy and math readiness activities, process-art where purpose is the process not the product, curiosity building science, manipulatives to encourage cooperative play, literature, songs and movement that are sure to make everyone ‘bust a move!’

Child must be 5 by August 31, 2026

We have half-day and full day options. KATC’s kindergarten curriculum is aligned with the Washington State Common Core standards and is designed to follow a logical sequence that naturally builds and strengthens skills throughout the whole school year. Math and literacy skills are first introduced in a whole group setting and then practiced in small groups (3-5 students at a time) with engaging and hands-on activities. KATC focuses on skill mastery. Students are assessed on their consistent demonstration of a skill. If they can do it, it is mastered. If they cannot, it’s still developing. Formal skill assessments occur four times per year.

Our literacy program is a balanced approach that explicitly teaches phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, and comprehension. Students authentically apply these skills when reading decodable stories, mapping words, and writing stories. Our math program applies research-based strategies to develop number sense to 100, operations and algebraic thinking, geometry, data collection, and measurement. Students participate in “counting collections” to apply number sense and mathematical reasoning in a meaningful way. Throughout the year, we have several Storybook STEM weeks. These weeks integrate a beloved children’s story with science, engineering, and art. Because healthy bodies and minds are just as important as academic skills, we take time to teach students about growth mindsets, positive affirmations, and have PE once per week. Daily, students are provided opportunities to practice collaboration, self-regulation, self-help, communication, and decision-making skills.

Must be 5 years by Aug. 31st of the current school year.
