Our Story
Once upon a time in 2006, Kids at the Creek Preschool began with just a few classes and a dream! That dream to serve our community by providing quality early childhood education continues to be realized and has grown throughout the years. Kids at the Creek (KATC) feels blessed to have helped prepare well over a thousand young children for elementary school. Our convenient Mill Creek location makes excellent early childhood education accessible to families primarily in the Everett, Snohomish and Northshore school districts. We began with a core team doing some research on what makes a great preschool and how a preschool could best prepare children for Kindergarten. The results pointed to the philosophy of learning through play. Studies overwhelmingly showed that young children learn best in a play-based environment. So that’s what we did! We hired a fantastic staff that was passionate about early childhood education, and collaboratively created our own theme-based curriculum. We went to work creating spaces and experiences designed to stimulate kids’ curiosity, critical thinking, social interactions, literacy and math readiness, group learning skills, creativity, and a sense of wonder and enthusiasm for learning. Every year our teachers fine tune and enhance our curriculum in order to keep things fresh and relevant for students.

Throughout the years, so many of our families have had all of their children journey through KATC and have recommended us to their friends. The dream continues! Given the growth in our community, our student population has grown.
We underwent construction a couple of years ago to create 3 new classrooms in order to accommodate the need for great preschool education in our area. Additionally, in 2009 we created a private Kindergarten program designed to provide more one on one attention for each student by offering smaller class sizes while still challenging students to maximize their potential. Our Kindergarten curriculum aligns with common core standards and our certificated Kindergarten teachers are excited to prepare their students for first grade in a loving, nurturing environment.
